I had a need to validate a date/time value in javascript to make sure it was in the proper format, mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm am/pm (example: 04/25/2006 10:00 AM). Since it was such a pain to find a regular expression that worked, I thought I would post it here.
I found a regular expression at http://regexlib.com/REDetails.aspx?regexp_id=761 that validated the format but it did not force the value to have both the date and time instead it would match with either the date or the time. Since I am not very good with regular expression, I contacted Matt Esterak who was able to modify the original regular expression to force the value to have both the date and time. Below is the original and new one with the modifications highlighted.
